1. Create 2 Digg accounts. Preferrably using one with one ip and the other with another ip if possible. If you have one static Ip, you do run the risk of getting caught however the risk is rather slim. You could just use one account instead, or have a friend create an account and put this strategy to use, then help each other.
2. With both these accounts you need to go around adding as many people as a friend as you can. Try to add a few hundred friends per account. Over time many will not accept you as a friend, so go through your friends list and remove any friends which are not "Mutual". You will also get many friend requests over time as you use this strategy, so you want to make room for those. (Note that Digg allows you to have 1000 friends).
3. Goto your profile and do each of the following things: - Upload a picture of a good looking girl as your profile picture. Don't make it a supermodel, just make it an above average college aged girl. Digg is 90+% male, and most of them geeks, who sit on their computers all day. If they see a girl using digg they'll usually digg your post no matter what it is about.
- Goto settings and under the "Shouts & Photos" section where it says "Display shouts in my profile to..." choose "nobody". This will prevent other diggers who go around trying to bury stories they think are being manipulated, from knowing what you are up to.
4. Submit Your Story in the appropriate section. Wait 20 minutes to see whats happening. If its getting a ton of diggs by itself then goto step 6 and step 7 and then back to step 5 if needed.
5. Start sharing your digg story to your friends. You do this by going to your digg listing, and clicking the "share" link. You can share it with 60 people at a time, then you need to wait 15 minutes or so to share it with the next 60 people. I usually put a note in the share saying something like "just thought you might think this was cool". It gives it a more personalized touch.
6. Now you want to add your Digg listing as your "favorite". Do this by clicking the yellow star in your listing saying "Favorite". The purpose of this is to allow those viewing your profile to see your favorite digg story at the top of your profile. This comes in handy for the next step.
7. Now you want to go on a Digg rampage. You want to just digg hundreds of other stories. Spend time on this, and don't just digg every single story on a page. That could look suspicious. Your goal is to digg at least 350 other stories, even more would be better. I prefer digging the lower ranking, and newly posted stories myself. What this does is gets Digg hungry users who check who dugg their story to goto your profile and in gratitude digg your story that you have in your favorites. There are hundreds of people on Digg who are just as hungry as you for diggs, and when someone diggs their story they want to return the favor, by digging yours, and probably adding you as a friend (Wow, I said digg like a hundred times in that sentence, sorry for the confusion). This is in hopes that next time you will also digg their story. Now if you have more friends to share your story with go back to step #5. Step #7 insures that a high percentage of diggers that digg your story will not be friends, meaning you will not be penalized by the digg algorithm.
Also if now is the time to use your other account or have your friend digg your story and share it with their friends. Remember a separate ip address is a plus.
** A tip. Take things slow. Often the "bury crew" will try and bury stories that seem like they are being manipulated. When a, not so spectacular story, seems to get a ton of diggs real fast, that may cause them to look suspiciously at it's activity and thus bury it. Once your story is submitted you will have 24 hours to make it to the main page before it gets extremely difficult. There are steps in the process that your story will go through in its accent to the top. - First it will get on the "Upcoming" right side widget of the subcategory - Second it will get on the "Upcoming" right side widget of the main category - Third it will get on the "Upcoming" right side widget of the main page - Forth it will make it into the hot main page of the category and subcategory - Last it will make the main page
As long as your story is somewhat interesting your digg number will increase at an ever rapid rate for each of the 5 levels above that your story will move through.
Tips on what your should submit and how:
There are still issues with getting buried. Here are a few quick tips on how to avoid getting your article buried.
#1) Make sure your site is not covered in ads. Diggers tend to dislike this as they see you posting your article in order to profit. A few ads here and there are ok.
#2) Don't make it appear as though you are simply posting your article to generate traffic or a higher temporary Google PR rating.
#3) Posting articles about things that are already rated highly in Digg. Veteran Diggers will notice this and bury your submission. Remember to make it UNIQUE!
Another thing that many Diggers will notice is that certain topics are always at the top of Digg:
Here are a few good topics. If your article is about one of these things, you will probably get far more diggs, and less a chance to have your submission buried.
- Linux - Apple - Mac - Steve Jobs - Top Lists (i.e. 52 top sports blogs) - Ubuntu - Video Games - Super MarioTitle formating can also help you attract more Diggs. Studies have shown that title that include a "specific percentage or amount" have retrieved far more Diggs then those that did not.
For example. A title that states, "50.5% of People in the US believe in the Devil" is a lot better then "Many people in
the US believe in the Devil".
